A little bit about ME……..
To begin, I firmly believe that massage therapy, used either as preventative medicine, or in conjunction with more traditional forms of healing, can allow my clients to progress to higher levels of physical and emotional well being. Massage therapy gives the body a chance to release stress, pain and emotional fatigue.
I am a graduate from the Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy in Albany, NY. With over 1000 hours of training in the modalities of swedish, craniosacral, myofacial release, cupping, aromatherapy and shiatsu, my studies also included anatomy, physiology, ethics, biology, kinesiology, along with many other modalities and topics. I have continued my studies to incorporate Reiki and energy work into my sessions. www.cnwsmt.com
I will typically address the body with regard to structural alignment and posture, fascial restrictions, range of motion and lifestyle habits. I believe client education can be a strong factor in the healing process. I am always willing to set aside time to discuss treatment plans that include stretching, yoga, nutrition, herbs or other natural healing modalities. I am happy to refer clients when their needs are out of my scope of practice. I have found the healing process to be faster and the client more empowered, when taking an active role in their own healing.
I am an avid environmental activist continually striving to be more conscious of my effects on the world around me. Adjusting my behavior as often as possible to lighten my impact of the earth. Giving to the community is important to me and I often donate Gift Certificates for massage to local organizations to help with fundraising. I also spend time collecting apparel for the Glens Falls Community Action and Food for the Open Door Mission. I traveled to Pokhara, Nepal to volunteer at Namaste Children's Home. This was an incredible experience. After returning home I created a library and computer learning opportunities for the children and staff. Please see www.orphanagenepal.org for information regarding these wonderful children.
I am in love with the outdoors (and my dogs). As a native Adirondacker I have lived and played in these mountains my entire life. I have been a whitewater raft guide since 1993 and frequently kayak, hike, mountain bike, road bike, ski, snowshoe or just sit outside, peacefully, and listen…... Ironically, I am also in love with the ocean and frequently travel to beautiful locations to indulge my need to listen to the surf. I paint, write and do my best to practice yoga.
I look forward to working with you!
Have a wonderful day……………~Donna
